Designer Spotlight: Pamela Shamshiri - A Visionary in Interior Design
Crafting Timeless & Eccentric Spaces with Studio Shamshiri
In the realm of interior design, few names resonate with as much acclaim and admiration as Pamela Shamshiri. As the co-founder of Studio Shamshiri, her work transcends trends, offering a masterful blend of sophistication, cultural richness, and a keen understanding of each client's unique narrative.
I was first introduced to the world of Pamela Shamshiri in 2019 when I was working w/ various interior designers and had the chance to visit the newly open Maison de la Luz in the CBD neighborhood of one of my favorite cities, New Orleans. Jaw-droppingly gorgeous, I couldn’t believe how serene and creative the hotel felt under her vision. A Wes Anderson-esque welcome at check-in and a lover all blue hues, the dinning room is beautiful, modern and nostalgic.
I then starting exploring the team’s projects and fell in love for a few that I revisit often for inspiration.
Let's delve into the world of Pamela Shamshiri and explore some of my favorite projects, including the iconic Maison de la Luz in New Orleans.
Studio Shamshiri: A Creative Odyssey
Pamela, along with her brother Ramin, established Studio Shamshiri as a platform for weaving stories into the fabric of spaces. Pamela and her brother, Ramin, were founding members of Commune Design before they set out on their own in 2016. Renowned for their ability to marry diverse influences, the studio embraces a multidisciplinary approach that draws inspiration from art, history, and the distinct personalities of their clients which clearly shine through in their work.

Anne Hathaway’s Home, Los Angeles: Touch of Elegance
While preserving the integrity and charm of the original architecture of the home, Studio Shamshiri added new layers of color, texture, and furnishings that reflect the evolution of the home over time. I just love the inviting dinning room/ breakfast nook that is equally as fun for adult entertaining as it is for Sunday breakfast with the kids. As someone who has lots of light and nature nature peering through my windows, I do have my fair share of dark antique furniture that I can’t quite pair with. By infusing complementary colors, the colors bring out a bright and contemporary spirit, bringing in the new paired with the old.
Studio Shamshiri HQ, Los Angeles: Curated Simplicity
Pamela Shamshiri's design for HQ is located in a Spanish Colonial-style building circa 1928 and has an atmosphere that is both inviting and inspirational and serves as a canvas for carefully curated furnishings and art. See the full tour here in Architectural Digest. I love the openness and arches in the grand room where the design team resides and the flow to additional rooms evoking warmth and color.
Maison de la Luz, New Orleans: A Luxurious & Creative Escape
Undoubtedly one of Pamela Shamshiri's most celebrated projects, Maison de la Luz in New Orleans is a triumph of opulence and comfort. The hotel, designed as a private guest residence, boasts sumptuous interiors that effortlessly blend grandeur with intimacy. Rich textures, custom-designed furniture, and a timeless color palette create an atmosphere of unparalleled luxury. It’s one of my favorite hotels nestled in the discreet and quiet CBD district.
Every room feels meticulously crafted and unique and the little bar room in the hotel is a hidden gem.
Pamela Shamshiri's impact on the world of interior design is nothing short of transformative. Her ability to create spaces that resonate with history, culture, and the individuality of each client sets her apart as a visionary in the industry.
